Can I apply for the Islamic University of Al Madinah if I am over 25?

.

Question:

me and my cousin wish to enrol in to the university, he is 18 and i am 28. i understand that if you are below 25, they pay your fees. but i wish to find out, for myself. i am over 25, how much will it cost me, yearly fees, and for stay, accomadation fees. also when does the new term for students start, when should me and my cousin apply to get a spot. and what tips would you advice, to help my placement push through.
jazakhallah walykum assaalam

Answer:

Wa alaykum salaam akhee,

The rule in the University of Al Madinah is that you should be 25 or under to get a chance of being accepted, however there are exceptions to that rule… I have seen brothers over that age who have been accepted so my advice to you is to have tawakkal ala Allah and still apply.

We are entitled to a monthly allowance of 840SAR, which I think works out to about £160. As far as I know all students receive this regardless of their age.

The new term (after this one that has just started 3weeks ago) should begin sometime in September/October I believe.

I read something recently which stats that students may apply for admission in the period between October 23rd and January 20th of each year. However, it is quite possible that you can come outside of these times and still get an interview and Allah knows best.

My advice to you both is to get all your paper work together and make many photocopies of everything and make a lot of Du’a because Allah is capable of doing all things!

I hope this has helped was salaamu alaykum

Can women study at the Islamic University of Al Madinah?

.

Question:

Salam Alaykum. I just wanted to ask you if it is possible for a woman to study at the university?  Thank you for your time. Salam Alaykum

Answer:

Wa alaykum salaam sister, Jazakillaahu khayran for your inquiry.

There have been talks about the University of Al Madinah opening up a women’s section, but Allah knows best regarding the authenticity. I have heard this from reliable sources and even that it may be open as early as next year. Again, Allah knows best. Keep checking out our blog spot at http://www.almadinahstudents.wordpress.com and we will post anything we hear up inshaAllah.

There are however plenty of institutes you could attend in order to benefit if you can find a way to come here. Please check the blog and encourage your friends to do the same and subscribe. Your suggestions on how we can improve the site are much appreciated.

What are the conditions for a woman to study in Saudi Arabia

if she is not married and her father and brothers are not there?

.

Question:

Salam Alaykum

I have found a University and from what I can gather it looks promising. My father Insh’Allah shall take me Saudia this summer to check things out, the institute is called Umm Al-Qura University, do you know of this uni? What are the conditions for a woman to be there studying if she is not married and her father and brothers are not there?

Sorry again and thank you for your time.

Salam Alaykum

Answer:

Wa alaykum salaam,

Yes I am familiar with this University. It is situated in Makkah MashaAllah. I do not know a lot about it, but I do know it’s a good university. I don’t think a woman can be in Saudi Arabia without a Mahram especially if she is studying! Who is look after her/protect her? Please let your father know if he needs to contact us to feel free to do so inshaAllah.

What types of degrees are available and how long does it take?

.

Question:

What types of degrees are available and for how long?… also, is it only for brothers? and one last thing.. the expenses how much is the tuition ?? plz let me know bro… btw how cum Madina university doesn’t have a official website?? I appreciate ur help bro! Assalamualikum

Answer:

If a student is successful enough to get into the faculty of his choice, he will be studying there for 4 years. There are different faculties here in Al Madinah that you can enter after you have completed the Arabic Language course. They are as follows: Faculty of Islamic Law, Faculty of Hadith, Faculty of Arabic Language, Faculty of the Quran and the Faculty of Dawah.

The university is only for brothers although I have heard that a sisters side will be opening..Allaah knows best. The tuition is absolutely free. They pay for you to come over to Saudi Arabia and they give you an allowance every month. The university has got an official site, but I haven’t found it to be helpful.

Let me know if we can be of any more assistance to you.

Islamically yours,

AlMadinahStudents

I was wondering I have all the documents required and the application form , will i get accepted into the Thanawiyah instead of the arabic institute if so how ? and secondly they require your birth certificate , I was born in Somalia which doesnt have a proper government and is no way of getting what is a alternetive.

    Jazakallah Khair

    1. Wa alaykum salaam my brother,

      JazakAllaahu khayr for your question.

As I understand, the brothers that get admitted to Thanaawiyyah are those brothers who did not have the necessary qualifications when they applied. As a result, they were accepted on the condition that after they have completed the Arabic institute, they will enter Thanawiyyah. Different brothers are required to remain in Thanawiyyah from different periods of time. I know a brother who has to complete one year in Thanawiyyah before entering the faculty of his choice. Another brother has to remain in Thanawiyyah for two or more years before he can enter the faculty of his choice. Speaking from experience, when I applied I submitted a photocopy of my birth certificate. I will try and find out what the best thing is to do in your situation. Keep checking this blog spot in the next few days bro, but if you do not hear from me then please do drop me an email inshaAllah.

    1. Wa alaykum salaam brother,

MashaAllah we are happy to hear that you have just started to practice Islam Alhamdulillah. Keep up your memorisation of the Quran and keep striving to learn more about the Deen Al Haqq!

I would definately recommend that you apply for the Islamic University if you wish to study Islam is more detail. We have outlined everything that you need to do in order to apply for the Islamic University on our page entitled, “Applying for the Jaami’ah”. Here you will find the application form and some information regarding the other documents you need to provide. With regards to your birth certificate, I do not know what you can do. Maybe call up the Saudi Embassy and ask them. Try and google their number inshaAllah.

If you have facebook, add us. We are under “Tullaab Al Madinah”.

I have two quick questions I hope you can help me with.

Firstly, the last qualifications I have are from more than 5 years ago (7 years to be exact), what are my chances of being accepted? My last studies ended 3 years ago, but the qualifications I have are from an earlier time.

Second, I read that the window for applications has closed for the 2012-2013 year, which was at the end of December 2011. When does the next window for application open for 2013-2014, when I can send my details inshaa-Allah?

  27. Asalaamualaikum. I am 21 years old, married, on the verge of becoming a father and completing a law degree InshAllah. I am interested in pursuing an Islamic studies course with the opportunity to learn the Arabic language. However, I have a wife who is expecting and a child on the way. How can the University help someone like myself? Jazak Allah Khayr

    1. Wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh

You remind me of myself when I applied for the uni some five years ago. I was in a similar situation, however I was a father once I had been accepted. The university doesn’t cater for students in your predicament. If you were to be accepted, then once you are over in Madinah, there are ways inshaAllah to get your family over with you. I must warn you, it is not easy!

    Dear Brother,

I am intend to send my son to the Madina university, Inshallah. After graduation will he be able to get a work permit/citizenship in Saudi Arabia? We are Indians. Alhadulillah, Allah has provided good sustainence in this World, but I want at least one of my son’s to be in Medina for Alllah’s cause.

    Barakallah…. !!!

    Jazakallah Khair….!!!!

    Abdullah…..

    1. Wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh

As far as I’m aware, this will not be possible. If your son is accepted to the university, he will able permitted to stay here for as long as he is a student. Thereafter, he will be required to return to his country of origin, unless he is able to find work elsewhere within the Kingdom.

      Hope this helps

  32. Assalaamu alaikum,

I have very good grades in my O’Level and A’ Level, Alhamdulillah! I have almost completed my BSc in Engineering (2 months left). I want to apply in Madina University. My engineering CGPA is 3.59. What are my chances of getting accepted in Madina university? And if I don’t get accepted should I wait for another yr, or there is no way for me?
    Jazaak Allah Khair!

    1. Wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh

My dear brother, success is from Allah and He chooses whom He pleases from His servants to be admitted to the university. The university stipulates that college qualifications are important (and they are), but they are not in and of themselves the deciding factor for acceptance. Many students who have good grades do not get accepted, and there are those with no qualifications who sometimes are blessed enough to be accepted. Keep your duty to Allah and may He give you what is best for you. If you don’t get accepted this year, keep trying and never give up.

  34. Asalamulaikum Warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Jazakallahu Kheyran for your time.
I have been thinking on studying abroad in Islamic environment Under Uloma but mahram has always been an obstacle for me. Alhamdullillah I discussed the issue with my brother but he said that it will be hard financially but he will think about it. So do you have any advice for my brother and I as I really want to leave as soon as possible bi’iznillah.
    Jazakallahu kheyran, Wasalamu Alaikum.

    1. Wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh

      Thank you for contacting us!

May Allah bless you in your noble endeavor to study abroad. I ask Allah that He makes this transition easy and beneficial for you. Ameen!

      Financial problems are always an obstacle in preventing brothers and sisters traveling to an Islamic environment in order to seek knowledge. I would advise one of the following things to do;

1 – Make a plan to leave in about a year or so; in that time you both can work in your country and save as much money as you possible can.
2 – Appeal to your friends and family to donate money for you both in order to pursue an Islamic education.
3 – Depending on the country that you plan to travel to, it’s quite possible that there are opportunities to work and earn money abroad, for example in Saudi Arabia you can earn a generous salary teaching English.

I hope this helps and with Allah lies all success.

  35. assalamu alaykum ameer,
I graduated high school 6 years ago and i really wanted to study there in Islamic University, I am 23 year old and still studying in a university here in our country (Philippines). I soon finish this course soon (on October I think). There are some problems in my high school records, bcoz it doesn’t fit my birth certificate., Can you give me any advise regarding my situation?? Inshaa Allah I can study there, to benefit me myself, my family and the people of my land when I become one of the da’ee here, Ameen!please give a fruitful advise. Thank you and Allah knows best. 😀

    1. Wa alaykumus salaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh,

May Allah bless you in your noble endeavour my brother!

I think it is excellent that you have a desire to become a student of knowledge and benefit yourself, and then the people in your country. I ask Allah to grant you and me al-istiqaamah in this life and ath-thabaat, aameen.

The best advise I have for you my brother is to try and rectify your current birth certificate situation as that will be a major hindrance should you get accepted to study here. Contact your local birth certificate issuing office in your country and seek advise from them as they will be able to advise you accordingly.

Once you have done the above (and I pray Allah makes it easy for you), do not delay and apply straight away. I hope this helps.

  36. As salamou aleikoum warahmatoulah brother, may ALLAH rewards you for the time you are spending answering our question.

-Are you allowed to work if you are married and have children while studying in the university??
-If yes what kind of work can you find ? Will a bachelor or master degree earned in my country ( US) be helpful to find something?
-I have read about evening class for those who work in Madinah and their employer approval. Can you tell me more about it ? Is it just for the 2 years arabic ?

    Regards,
    Jazakalahu khayr

    1. wa asalaamu alaykum warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh,

      Aameen wa eyaakum!

The situation in Saudi Arabia regarding working is changing somewhat. There are students that are/were currently doing what you mentioned (working whilst studying). This obviously has implications and affects their studies, but some students have mouths to feed so they are doing their best according to their circumstances. However, recently the government have re-introduced what I understand to be an old law which states that a person can only work for his.her sponsor. When you get some time, try google searching it and you will find a heap of information about it. This means that anyone found working for other than his/her sponsor can face jailtime or possibly face being chucked out the country and banned for a period of time. This is a major problem.

There are some brothers on the other hand who suffice with private tuition. As far as I know, there is no problem with this and Allah knows best. Had the situation been different, having a bachelors or masters degree would have definitely helped.

Finally, yes there are opportunities to study Arabic in the Arabic Institute at the University of Al Madinah. The course is an evening course and I believe you will cover all four levels. I don’t know a great deal about it other than what I have offered. I hope this helps.

  41. As salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

Alhamdulillaah, I happened to come across your page tonight in my quest for information about the women’s wing at Madeenah Islamic university. I see that the last post on this issue was posted in the year 2010 which said that there is a news of the women’s wing starting in the coming year i.e. 2011. Now I hear from some that they have started the women’s wing already. So I thought of confirming the news as to how authentic is it inshaaAllaah. Could you please update me of the current status there?
